چکیده
Monk Parakeets are considered one of the most invasive bird species given its unique capacity among psittacines to build their own communal nests. Originally introduced as pets in houses from where they escaped or were released, currently more than 20 countries worldwide. This is case Chile, during 1970s. Between 2016 and 2019 we searched Parakeets’ nests structures Santiago metropolis region. We identified 1458 on 546 trees belonging 34 tree species. Ninety-one percent occupied also introduced. Paraná pine cedar Lebanon with highest abundance nests, averaging four nests/tree/species, 23 18 maximum number respectively. Tasmanian blue gum black locust selected by parakeets often expected, based availability. From all trees, 24.6% denoted health problems 47.3% pruned. The average nest height was 14.2 m observed mainly secondary branches (59.3%). occupancy rate 89.7% associated type branch. During two reproductive seasons quantified eggs nestlings chambers 4.5 4.2, provide a rough population size estimate characteristics selectivity, aiming characterize several decades neglected urban invasion warrant strategies for improved management measures.

Sociality and Reconciliation in Monk Parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus)
For animals living within socially complex groups, it is beneficial for all individuals to maintain group cohesion. Conflicts often arise in groups, which could potentially have high costs both to the subordinate and dominant members, and could lead to group instability. It has been shown numerous times that highly social group members participate in affiliative relationships with other group m...

Nonnative Monk Parakeets have been reported in increasing numbers across many cities in Mexico, and were formally classified as an invasive species in Mexico in late 2016. However, there has not been a large-scale attempt to determine how international pet trade and national and international governmental regulations have played a part in colonization, and when the species appeared in different...

Toxoplasma gondii infection in marine mammals is intriguing and indicative of contamination of the ocean environment with oocysts. T. gondii was identified in a Hawaiian monk seal (Monachus schauinslandi) that had visceral and cerebral lesions. Tachyzoites were found in the lymph nodes, spleen, diaphragm, heart, adrenal glands, and brain. A few tissue cysts were found in sections of the cerebru...
متن کاملFirst report of Acanthocheilonema spirocauda in the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus).
The Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) is one of the world's most endangered marine mammals. The largest population is located mainly throughout the Aegean and Ionian islands and along the coastline of southern continental Greece. We report the findings of a necropsy and discuss their potential importance to the conservation of the species. The adult female monk seal appeared to be in ...
